A Google Maps API key is a personal codeprovided by Google to access Google Maps on thissite. Your API key provides you with a free quota ofGoogle Map queries. Your Google account will beautomatically billed for any usage that exceeds yourquota.
Any closures reported from the Waze appare visible, and can be manipulated in the Waze Map Editor.Waze app reported closures do not have an effect onrouting until enough users report the same segment closed. Howeverif an editor sees it in WME and edits it, the RTCs then take effectimmediately.
Google Traffic prediction is based on severalfactors including Public sensors, GPS data, and analysis of thepast record of traffic in the area. All of these parametershelp you give an accurate and real-time traffic update. Thisdata can also be used to predict traffic infuture.

On a Google map, public rail transportationroutes are marked with blue symbols. A blue M, forexample, indicates an elevated or underground rail, a trainsignifies surface commuter service. An airplane in a bluecircle indicates an airport.
Apple Maps got a lot of improvement with iOS 10,but one area in which it's still behind Google Maps istransportation options when getting directions. Unfortunately, youstill can't get bicycle direction on Apple Maps.However, you can find a bicycle route in GoogleMaps.
Waze requires a data connection, GoogleMaps is available offline. Google Maps includes businessdata such as menus, hours, and phone numbers, while Wazedoes not. Waze offers real-time info such as road closures,road hazards, traffic alerts and real-time traffic conditions basedon driver data.

Waze's100 employees received about $1.2 million on average, the largestpayout to employees in Israeli high tech.By simply driving around with the Waze open onyour device, you share real-time information that translates intotraffic conditions and road structure. When you useWaze, you can also actively report to the community ontraffic, accidents, police traps, blocked roads, weatherconditions and much more.
Google Maps uses the speed limits along the routein its time calculations, so that doesn't account for stopsfor fuel, food, rest breaks, or for delays for weather, traffic, orconstruction. You can estimate delay time based on your own travelstyle, and recalculate accordingly. Google'sgood.
How to Notify Google Maps to Update New Roads
- Go to the Google Map Maker website (see Resource).
- Click on the search box and type any location or road that isclose to the place where the new roads should be.
- Click the "Add New" button and click "Add Roads, Rivers,Railways."
- Click on a spot on the map where the new road begins.
Google Maps bases its traffic views andfaster-route recommendations on two different kinds of information:historical data about the average time it takes to travel aparticular section of road at specific times on specific days andreal-time data sent by sensors and smartphones that report how fastcars are moving
The original travel time for any given route iscalculated using the average speed limits along theroute. Google collects data on the speed limits ofmajor highways, freeways and streets to give the most accuratetravel time possible.
The feature uses anonymised location data from otherGoogle users, as well as searches, to analyse howbusy it is at that moment. While predicted busy timesfrom historic data is generally useful, at sales times orwhen transport conditions are less than ideal, the flow of peoplemight increase at normally quiet times.
Apple Maps will display slowdowns intraffic, but the app focuses so much on the user's currentlocation that it makes seeing future problems difficult. Like thecurrent Google Maps, Apple Maps will not warn theuser about speed traps, roadway obstructions, or other roadconditions.
Google Maps speed camera detection now availablein more nations globally. Speed camera detection has been inWaze for some time and is a welcome inclusion within GoogleMaps (via Android Police).
Steps
- Launch Waze. Locate the app on your mobile device, iOS orAndroid, and tap on it.
- Initiate a report.
- Select “Traffic Jam” as the report type.
- Select the situation.
- Share more details.
- Identify the lane.
- Take a pic.
- Tap “Send” at the bottom of the form or window tosend your traffic report.
When I get an alert, two icons appear. One is athumbs up icon that I assume thanks the person who sent thealert. I have no idea what the icon next to it for. Also, if I getan alert for something that is no longer there, how do Icommunicate that. Thanks.
Google Maps feature allows reporting a roadaccident or a crash. Google is well known tokeep testing new features in its apps before they roll out to theusers. One such feature has been seen by some users of GoogleMaps.
Report Button. When I first open the Wazeapp, the report button is displayed in the lower right partof the screen. As soon as I touch the map to scroll to see roadconditions, the report button goes away, and I have no ideahow to get it back.

In the address bar, typewww.maps.google.com and press Enter. Once theGoogle Maps window opens up, click Report a problem from thebottom-right corner. When the Report a problem box appears at thetop-right corner, locate and click the location on the mapthat you wish to correct.
