1. Soften fabrics. Keep a bottle by your washing machine and use it in place of fabric softener. It does the exact same job at half the price.
Gain Fabric Softener can be used for hand washing too. After you've washed the clothes in detergent, rinse them thoroughly. Then add a small amount of fabric softener to the tub filled with fresh water and do a final rinse.
Manually: If you're adding fabric conditioner by hand, be sure not to add it during the wash cycle. The wash cycle will clean away much of the softener, so add it during the rinse cycle. Also, try to avoid direct contact with fabrics to avoid stains; instead, pour Downy into the deeper pockets of water.

Move fabrics to the side of the tub and pour the fabric conditioner solution directly into the rinse water. Stir the fabrics in the rinse water several times, then soak for 2 to 3 minutes.
Can you use the bleach dispenser for the fabric softener? The answer is no. do not put your fabric softener in the bleach compartment because some chemicals in the softener when combined with bleach, they react and produce chlorine gas.
The fabric softener is designed to work in the rinse cycle. Do not add it with the detergent unless you have a special place to do so. If you add it with the detergent then it will be washed out during the wash cycle and you will be wasting your softener and your money.
Pour the bleach into the dispenser if you have a front-loading machine. Open the bleach dispenser slot on the front of the washing machine and pour in 1 capful of bleach. The machine will automatically release the bleach into the water once the machine has filled up.
To use liquid detergent, remove the detergent drawer from the washing machine by pressing release lever (A) and then insert the provided liquid container in the main-wash compartment. Once done, apply liquid detergent to the container below the marked max line (A).
Putting it in where laundry detergent normally goes will mean the softener is instead dispensed in the wash cycle. If that's all you put in, you're not putting in any detergent, so the wash cycle is just acting as a long rinse. To fix it, just re-run the load with detergent and softener in their correct dispensers.
What causes water to be left? This tube often gets blocked by the fabric softener itself. If you remove the dispenser drawer and take off the cap or device you can give the whole thing a good clean out. To test the function, hold the soap drawer under a tap and allow water to fill the fabric compartment to overflowing.
As a general rule of thumb, you should only use about a tablespoon of laundry detergent per regular load size. (The measuring cup that comes with your liquid laundry detergent is about 10 times larger than the actual amount of laundry soap needed.) Never pour liquid detergent into your machine without measuring first.

Go Easy with Detergent & Fabric ConditionerAlmost everyone is guilty of using too much laundry detergent or fabric softener in a load. More detergent does not always equal more cleaning. The extra detergent settles back on the clothing and leaves the finish dull and stiff.
The obvious reasons for using fabric softener are valid. It's an effective way to keep fabrics soft and wrinkle-free. It also helps reduce friction between fibers, which creates less static cling and helps product your clothes from wear and tear, making them last longer than if you were to go without.

How do I remove fabric softener from clothing? Use the warmest washing machine settings the fabric will tolerate. Add white vinegar to the washer after the water for the wash cycle has filled. Do not add detergent.
Even a little dishwashing liquid can make a high-efficiency washer overflow with bubbles. Instead, go to your fridge and pull out your trusty box of baking soda. Just one cup of baking soda will get your load fresh and clean. Bypass the soap dispenser on your machine and just throw it in with your clothes.
In the main, laundry needs to be processed in an alkaline wash-liquor so ordinary detergents will have a series of alkalis in its builder system. Woolite has therefore a neutral pH and relies on the synergistic action of a series of surfactants and complexing agent which will launder wool with no harmful side-effects.
Downy strengthens fabrics and helps reduce friction during the laundry process, which helps clothes keep their original shape, reduce color fading, and reduce pilling and fuzz. Is it Fabric Softener or Fabric Conditioner? Fabric softeners are formulated to do just what they say—soften and freshen fabric.
