Expired alcohol doesn't make you sick. If you drink liquor after it's been open for more than a year, you generally only risk a duller taste. Flat beer typically tastes off and may upset your stomach, whereas spoiled wine usually tastes vinegary or nutty but isn't harmful.
It's not going to go bad. It might suffer for taste in some manner but it's unlikely to make you sick. And seriously, people intentionally age alcohol for decades.
An unopened bottle of rum doesn't go bad. Unopened rum can last for decades upon decades. But once the bottle is opened, rum goes pretty fast.
The original Malibu is made with coconut extract; hence it's often called coconut rum. Of course, Malibu rum won't magically go bad or lose all of its taste after that date. Unopened, it should stay perfectly fine for years past that date. Once you open it, the producer suggests using it within a year for best taste.
Unlike wines, distilled spirits do not improve with age once they are in the bottle. As long as they are not opened, your whiskey, brandy, rum, and the like will not change and they will certainly not mature further while they wait on the shelf.

Triple-sec is a high-proof alcoholic beverage, so it doesn't really go bad. Alcohol acts as a natural preservative and keeps bacteria and mold from growing inside the beverage. That being said, over time the quality of triple sec will slowly drop, and it will lose some or all of its pleasant citrus flavor.
Triple sec is an orange-flavored liqueur made from dried orange peels. You can drink it neat as an after-dinner treat, but it's typically added to popular cocktails like a Long Island iced tea, Cosmo, Kamikaze and Sidecar.
How Can You Tell If Baileys Has Gone Bad?
- Smell: If the liqueur smells musty or has an aroma similar to custard, it has probably gone off.
- Texture: If the consistency of the liquid has gone from thick and creamy to congealed or lumpy, your Irish Cream may be curdled.
Kahlua is an alcoholic liqueur which is thicker, but similar in appearance to brown creme de cacao. Kahlua is made from coffee beans rather than cacao beans. Like creme de cacao, Kahlua is sweet, and has an essence of vanilla.
Most liqueurs like Grand Marnier, Campari, Chartreuse, and St. Germaine can be stored at room temperature and last for a very long time, provided they have around 20 percent or more alcohol by volume. Most cream-based liqueurs will indicate a best-by date and whether or not it needs to be refrigerated.
The rule I use is: If it's under 15% alcohol or if the base is wine, it goes in the fridge once it's open. Spirits like whiskey, rum, gin, vodka, etc. don't need to be refrigerated because the high alcohol content preserves their integrity.
Triple sec, originally Curaçao

Like many liqueurs, Kahlua does go bad. The manufacturer recommends that Kahlua be consumed within four years of the production date. This shelf life recommendation is the same, whether or not the bottle has been opened, and does not depend on the storage method.

At its best, vermouth isn't just a snazzy cocktail ingredient, it's a cocktail unto itself. Case in point: a glass of the legendary Punt e Mes over ice (plus an orange peel, if you'd like). The sweet vermouth has more bitterness than its peers—it's that extra bittering that helps it stand alone.
Grand Marnier is made with cognac and Cointreau is made with a clear alcohol (distilled from sugar beet). Cointreau has a cleaner orange flavour but Grand Marnier has a more complex flavour with orange, vanilla and hints of oak. Grand Marnier also seems to have a slightly more syrupy texture than Cointreau.
Vermouth is basically wine. Refrigerate it after opening. If it's really undrinkably bad you'll be able to tell. If it's just old it'll probably be a little off and have some odd flavors but it's still drinkable.
Peppermint schnapps is very tasty, and as it is 104 proof or so, it will get you drunk very quickly. Just put about 4oz in a glass and take your time with it.

Even though grenadine is a non-alcoholic syrup, it lasts quite a long time. Please remember that it's not an expiration date and the syrup won't somehow go bad a few days past that date. If you still haven't opened the bottle, it should last at least several months past that date.
Bottles should be kept in the shade and in a cool place with no extremes of temperature – a cellar is ideal. And when it comes to understanding the best temperature at which to keep your Cognac, then the most important thing to consider is that it's constant. In other words, no extremes of temperature.
That's because temperatures capable of freezing water also effectively eliminate any of the subtle flavors and aromas that separates the kind of quality vodka sold in a glass bottle from a plastic handle. In short, it's not the kind of stuff you'd want to make a martini with.
