'Father Brown' Heads to BritBox Along WithNew Original Series 'The Bay' BritBox is expanding itscontent slate with two original series, a slate of liveprogramming, and the introduction of the long-running series“Father Brown,” the company's president SoumyaSriraman announced Thursday.
BritBox is a paid-for video streaming servicefounded as a joint venture by the BBC and ITV. It is expected tolaunch by the end of this year, subject to regulatory approval,with ITV encouraging other public service broadcasters such asChannel 4 and Channel 5 to also join and share theirprogramming.
Although Fire Stick and Fire TV owners stillcan't download a separate BritBox app and subscribedirectly at BritBox.com, there IS an entirely separateBritBox channel at Amazon.
BBC content will be available on iPlayer for upto a year before making the jump to Britbox, while ITVmaterial will move behind a paywall after 30 days on ITV Hub. Notall programmes will transfer across, as BritBox will have toagree licensing deals with independent producers.
