Cheek fillers are injections that raise the volume of the area above and around your cheekbones. This provides the illusion of a more defined bone structure. By injecting volume under your skin layer, cheek fillers can also smooth out wrinkles and fine lines.
Avoid putting makeup after filler or laser sessions:
After a session, don't put makeup before at least 12 hours because the sensitized skin is prone to irritations or infections. The most common areas are the cheeks (Juvederm Voluma XC), the nasolabial folds and marionette lines around the mouth (Juvederm Ultra Plus XC) and the lips (Juvederm Ultra XC). Juvederm Ultra XC and Ultra Plus XC both last between six and 12 months. It slowly metabolizes over time.
Depending on your body's natural tendency to bruise, it can take as long as two weeks after a filler treatment for the bruising to completely subside. This will reduce the likelihood of further trauma to the blood vessels, which could result in additional swelling and bruising.
General Care After Fillers:
Bruising and Swelling – ice as much as you can for the first several days. 20 minutes on and 20 minutes off – five times a day. Extra icing can definitely help. But most fillers are viscous so when they are injected they stretch the skin causing injection pain. Some areas of the face (usually places where nerves and vessels are closer to the surface such as the marionette lines, the lips, and the apples of the cheeks) are more painful than others.
In the first 24 hours following treatment, limit exposure to sunlight or UV lamps. The treated areas can be washed with a gentle cleanser such as Cetaphil® Cerave® or Dove® unscented. Avoid dental procedure (including cleaning) 2 weeks post filler. Your satisfaction is important to us!
Today, we're going to talk about one of the possible downsides to getting Botox: bruising. Any time an injection is made under the skin, bruising is a possible side effect. That said, bruising does not always occur after Botox is administered—in fact, the majority of patients do not exhibit bruises following treatment.

Traditionally, it's been used to reduce pain, swelling, and bruising. Arnica is often used in gel or lotion form. It found that homeopathic arnica may reduce the severity of bruising. A 2010 double-blind study looked at topical arnica and found that it reduced bruising.
What to Do Before Lip Fillers and Injections. Avoid blood thinning over-the-counter medications such as aspirin, Motrin, ibuprofen, and Aleve. Avoid supplements, including St. John's Wort, Gingko biloba, primrose oil, garlic, ginseng, and Vitamin E.
