Call your cell carrier. They can block a number for you. Tap the i next to the entry for one of their calls in the call log. Scroll down and tap block contact.
On Android Lollipop, go to the Phone app and select Call Settings > Call Rejection (ouch) > Auto Reject List. Type in the number or search for it, select it, and you're done. For Marshmallow or Nougat, open Dialer, go to your recent calls list, find the number you want to block and select Block/Report Spam.

Android device, follow the instructions below.
Otherwise, visit the help center for their device to learn how to block phone numbers.
- On your child's device, tap Phone .
- Tap Call history .
- Tap a call from the number you want to block.
- Tap Block / report spam.
You can enable Screen Time on your kid's phone and protect the settings with a pass code, or you can remotely manage your kid's phone by setting everyone up on Family Sharing. Go to Settings on your kid's phone. Tap Use Screen Time Passcode and enter a pass code (this locks the setting so kids can't change it back).
How to turn off parental controls on an Android device using the Google Play Store
- Open your Android device's Settings app and tap "Apps" or "Apps & notifications."
- Select the Google Play Store app from the complete list of apps.
- Tap "Storage," and then hit "Clear Data."
To disable changes to time zones, take the following steps: Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > Location Services. Under System Services, ensure Setting Time Zone is toggled on. Tap "Don't Allow Changes" at the top of the Location Services page.
In order for your iPhone to block the number, it must have the phone number attached to the contact. Please go back to the contact, tap Edit, and re-add the phone number, which should correct this. When you block a phone number or contact, they can still leave a voicemail, but you won't get a notification.

Once you block a number, the caller can not reach you anymore. You can also send text messages to the number. However, they will receive your text messages but cannot respond. Let's be clear about what's happening here; calls ring once and go to Voicemail, whereas texts go to a “blocked senders” directory.
On an Android, open your phone app and tap on the three-dot icon in the upper right corner and choose Settings. Tap on Block numbers. You will find several options including unknown callers, recent call, or from your contact list. Choose or manually enter a number you wish to block.
Open Settings on your iPhone. Tap Messages. Turn on the feature under “Message Filtering” called “Filter Unknown Senders.”
If you get a notification like "Message Not Delivered" or you get no notification at all, that's a sign of a potential block. Next, you could try calling the person. If the call goes right to voicemail or rings once (or a half ring) then goes to voicemail, that's further evidence you may have been blocked.
When you block someone from texting you on iPhone, there's no way to see the messages that were sent while you had the number blocked. If you change your mind and want to see messages from that person on your iPhone, you can unblock their number to start receiving their messages again.
When you create a Google Account for your child using Family Link, you can set screen time limits on their Android device or Chromebook. That way, you can lock your child's Android device or Chromebook at bedtime, after they've used it for a certain amount of time, or when you think they need a break.
The easiest way to bypass parental controls on a mobile device is to perform a factory reset. Factory resetting your phone will not work if parental controls are set on your router. If this is the case, use a VPN or Proxy site.
Turn off restrictions without a passcode by restoring as a new device.
- Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes on your computer.
- Connect your device to your computer and select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes under Devices.
- Select the Summary tab.
- Select the Restore option.
How to know if someone blocked your number on Android. If an Android user has blocked you, Lavelle says, “your text messages will go through as usual; they just won't be delivered to the Android user.” It's the same as an iPhone, but without the “delivered” notification (or lack thereof) to clue you in.
When a blocked number tries to send you a text message, it won't go through. If they're on iOS, they might not even see the “delivered” note in their Messages app—though it's possible they'll see your chat bubble turn from blue (iMessage) to green (SMS). You'll see nothing on your end.
Tap the “Dialer” app on your Android's screen and then tap “Settings.” Tap the “Call blocking” option in Settings and then tap “Add a Number.” Type in the number that you would like to block and then tap “Block” to block all calls and texts from this number. You must enter the number manually.
You can't know for sure if someone has blocked your number on an Android without asking the person. However, if your Android's phone calls and texts to a specific person don't seem to be reaching them, your number might have been blocked.
