All mice are born with their eyes closed, which is common among many mammals. Despite being color-blind and only being able to actualy focus on objects that are 1 to 2 feet away, mice can detect motion up to 45 feet away.
Mice range in color depending on species and can be brown, black or white in color, with tails of varying length. They are extremely curious.

White-footed mice (also known as wood mice) are a common rodent found in most of Canada and the northeastern United States. These mice are named for their white feet which contrast with their dark gray coat.
While many factors can affect their longevity, mice usually live for about 12 to 18 months.
Sprague Dawley (albino rats) are used for this project because they will eat any food typically eaten by humans; they have a digestive system similar to humans; they are small, clean, gentle and easily caged animals; they can safely and easily be handled; they do no transmit disease to humans; and they grow quickly and
An albino mouse is one of the most common rodents found in lab experiments. But is quite an uncommon pet.
The rats who were bred first time, females sometime get panic by seeing their babies and confused as foreign body, so came under stress and show cannibalism. Sometimes if any body touch the pups, foreign smell will be there on the body of pups, and the mother will get confused and eat them.
Mice can see pretty well, but don't have the best eyesight of the animal kingdom. Most of their focus is on finding food in small, cramped or dark spaces, so they don't have much of an eye for detail beyond a short range.
Typical costs: Rats cost between $10 and $20 each, depending on the rat's age and temperament.

A genetic mutation causes albino raccoons to lose the traditional black and gray colour including the bandit strip across the eyes. This colour goes all the way down to their feet. Many people have never spotted one because they are pretty rare.
These experiments show clearly that the albino rat discriminates between different food substances and manifests definite food pre- ferences. Standard diet and meat are much more frequently chosen by the animals than cheese, corn, oats, or sunflower seed.
Albino rats have fewer light sensitive cells in their eyes, an abnormal eye-to-brain connection, and a translucent iris which leads to dazzling and retinal degeneration. As a consequence of all these differences, albino rats are severely visually impaired or blind. More information and references on albino rat vision.
Rats are omnivores, meaning they are healthiest when they eat a combination of fruits, veggies, and meats. So, the best rat diet consists of mostly fresh fruits and vegetables, plus a small portion of rat pellets or rat cube food daily.
Laboratory mice are usually of the species Mus musculus. Other mouse species sometimes used in laboratory research include two American species, the white-footed mouse (Peromyscus leucopus) and the North American deer mouse (Peromyscus maniculatus).
Albinism of laboratory rodents: The majority of laboratory rodents are albinos, due to a common mutation in tyrosinase gene in all albino laboratory rat strains [17] and in at least some of the albino mouse strains [18]. Tyrosinase is the rate-limiting enzyme in the production of melanin pigment.
The eye color of mice is determined by a dominant allele E, corresponding to black eyes, and a recessive allele e, corresponding to red eyes.
Mice typically grow from 1 to 7 inches (2.54 to 18 centimeters) in length and weigh between 0.5 and 1 ounce (. 23 to . 028 kilograms).
Mice are breeding machines. They have a gestating period of 19 to 21 days. A female mouse gets pregnant about 5 to 10 times each year and can give birth to a litter of 3 to 14 pups. The mice reproduce each year, and the mother can mate immediately after giving birth.
Rats and mice are both rodents, so look similar - the biggest difference is their size. Rats are larger and heavier while mice have smaller slender bodies. Mice also have long slender tails (for their body size) covered in hair compared to rat tails which are shorter, thicker and hairless.
Abnormal eye development and appearanceThe eyes of albino animals appear red because the colour of the red blood cells in the retina can be seen through the iris, which has no pigment to obscure this. Some albino animals may have pale-blue eyes due to other colour generating processes.
Peppermint oil, cayenne pepper, pepper and cloves.Mice are said to hate the smell of these. Lightly soak some cotton balls in oils from one or more of these foods and leave the cotton balls in places where you've had problems with mice.
Vale holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in visual arts from York University. Mice are colorblind, so they see colors similar to the way red-green color-blind people do. That doesn't mean they don't see any colors at all, but they can't see many.
The most noticeable characteristic of the deer mouse is its white underbelly hair, which extends to the underneath of its tail. A house mouse is about 5 inches from its nose to its tail. A deer mouse is around 7 inches from nose to tail.
Typically, a mouse will avoid contact with humans and will run away if possible. However, if you back a mouse into a corner, it may get aggressive as a means of defending itself. Because of this—and the fact that wild mice and rats can spread over 35 diseases—you should never try to handle a wild mouse.
